Oh MY GOODNESS! The biggest lesson I’ve learned these past two weeks? Slow down and ask for help. There is nothing wrong with needing support, and there is so much peace in taking things slow. 💛 This weekend, my husband and I are visiting dear friends—something I’ve been looking forward to. I know it sounds crazy to be thankful for a fractured ankle and this big, heavy boot… but today, I am. 💙 This experience has reminded me to find joy in the little things—to laugh instead of complain, to appreciate those who step in to help, and to embrace the healing process one step at a time (literally!). How we start our day looks different for everyone. Some jump right into reading, exercising, or tackling their daily plan. In fact, just recently I read that successful people begin their mornings by taking care of themselves, checking their "numbers", and having a clear plan in place. For me, I start slow. No phone, no music, no noise. Just silence. I don’t rush into a workout or my to-do list. Instead, I begin with reflection—reading my Bible and praying over my day. It shifts my focus from my plan to God’s plan, setting the tone for everything ahead. How do you start your day? Starting the morning on the right foot isn’t always easy. Some days, life moves so fast that we hit the ground running the moment we get out of bed. With a long list of tasks ahead—whether at work or home—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But sometimes, the simplest one- or two-minute chores can help us reset our minds and bring a sense of accomplishment. For me, that small but powerful task is making my bed. It’s a quick win that tells my brain, I’ve completed something today! Plus, when bedtime comes, Micheal and I can crawl into a neatly made bed without worrying about Lucy’s dirt on the sheets—just on the cover! This whole week has been a learning experience for me. I am someone who does not like just sitting in a chair. I like to be up and helping with chores. I am an active person, even though I joke about being lazy. I am someone who likes to serve, not be served. So this past week has been a real struggle. This morning, I told Michael that I felt like I wasn't doing anything. He chuckled and said, "You are. You are healing." Isn't that funny? God stops us at times in our lives so we can heal. He puts us in a position to rest because our bodies need it. Who wants to spend Valentine's Day stuck in a chair? Not me! But it seems God had a different plan for me this year. So here I am, resting and nursing my ankle back to health. I couldn’t do this without my sweet Valentine. He’s been amazing—making my coffee every morning, putting up with my whining, feeding and playing with the puppies, cooking dinner, and supporting me through it all. I don’t know what I would do without him this week. The puppies and I love you! Life isn’t always easy, but showing up is powerful. I’ve spent a week stuck in a chair, and if I’ve learned anything, it’s this: I’m proud of you—for showing up, for doing the hard things, for pushing forward even when life isn’t cooperating. Sometimes, the easiest choice (like snuggling with my puppies all day) isn’t the best choice. But I’m also learning that living with intention means making solid choices—even when they’re hard. So today, I’m choosing to rest, snuggle my pups, and maybe pass the water (if you know, you know 😉).
